| ![]() | Costs Normally Overlooked By the Auto Loan Calculator The online auto loan calculator has a spot for entering the costs that are paid by the typical car buyer. Still, the online auto loan calculator does not take into consideration a number of possible additional costs. What other costs might add to the final price for any purchased car?
The online calculator does not have a space for entering the title fee. The car buyer must pay for preparation of the car title, the title that will be given to the new car owner. The auto loan calculator also fails to consider any of the dealer preparation costs. In Pennsylvania, for example, a car dealer must make sure that each car on the lot has a current inspection sticker. In addition, the online calculator does not consider the destination costs for a purchased motored vehicle. The destination costs generally refer to shipping costs. Not everyone who buys a car chooses to drive that car off the lot, down the highway and into a nearby driveway. Most importantly, the online calculator does not consider the degree to which state and local taxes might increase the final cost of a car. Unless a car buyer makes his or her purchase in the state of Oregon, the combination of state and local taxes can add markedly to the final price of any motored vehicle.
