When Should Students Learn About The Bad Credit Auto Loan?

Should a high school student be provided with information about the bad credit auto loan? The instructor of a high school economy class usually tries to steer his or her students away from dependence on credit cards. That would suggest the need to avoid mention of the bad credit auto loan in a high school classroom.

Yet instructors have no control over what students might learn outside of the classroom. Sometimes, students learn about the opportunity to fool a creditor into providing a loan. In this instance, someone with bad credit uses fraudulent means to obtain a loan, and to make a purchase using that loan.

An observant and thinking student can see that such a system would allow for avoidance of a bad credit auto loan. The use of such a system puts responsibility for loan payments on the shoulders of someone else. Such irresponsible behavior is notf the sort of behavior in which students should be encouraged to engage.

How then can schools introduce into their curriculum material that might show students the sad consequences of using fraudulent evidence to get a car loan? Maybe schools should consider adding to their economics courses a lesson or two about the bad credit auto loan. Maybe then students would see that even those with less than good credit have a legitimate way to obtain a car loan.
